FAQ:
Do you shoot digital or film?
I shoot with professional film. I process the film at a Kodak monitored pro-lab in Rochester, NY, and then I burn the negatives onto a CD. The end results is that you have a "hard" or true back-up, and digital files. Using color film will outlast advancements in technology, and provide a better color range.
How many photographers do you work with? How can you guarentee you'll be at the event?
I work alone, unless you wish to hire a 2nd photographer to ensure complete coverage for a very large wedding. I keep in touch in e-mail, and I call the day before to confirm I will be at the ceremony. If by chance I could not make it, I will find a replacement and/or refund a payment made.
Do you book more than 1 wedding a day?
No, I usually don't even book one every weekend during "peak" season. I take each wedding with extra care, fresh, and full of excitement. You deserve personal, unique attention! Not a photographer stuck in the same routine. This also ensures I do not get behind on printing and proofs for clients.
Do you bring back up equipment?
Yes, I usually bring 3 lenses and 2 camera bodies. I have fresh batteries for each wedding in every piece of equipment I use, and a back up digital camera "just in case".
Do you charge hourly or by the day?
I charge by the day, my "basic" price is coverage from the bride starting to get ready, to the end of the reception. If you are on a tight budget, we can discuss event coverage. Ie: remain until the end of the cake cutting, vs the dancing. I don't go by a hard set hourly rate, you don't want to just miss a big event because of the photographer's time is up.
**For more local brides, I usually would love to try to make it to one of your final gown fittings free of charge. I think it plays a nice lead into the actual day in your album. **
Do you charge for travel?
I don't charge for travel within a 2 hr drive of Elmira, NY. Even in cases where I may have to drive a little further, travel charges may be waived if a small portion of the shooting time is taken out.
How soon will the proofs and album be ready?
Proofs will be sent on a CD-ROM. They usually take 3-4 weeks. You may keep the proofs as long as you wish, but it will delay your albums. Your 4x6 Kolo album is usually finished in 4 weeks or less, the coffee table album depends on you. Most clients receive their album in less than 2 months from the date.
For the delux album, the hand printed collection of 8x10's should also be done in this time frame (2 months).
Do you retain copyrights and publishing rights? When will I receive my negatives?
Yes, I retain all rights. I will only use the images to promote my own work, and they will never be sold to a 3rd party. I will release copyrights 1 year after your wedding, when you'll receive the negatives and CD.
